Despite the fact that just about none of the factions seem to get a long with each other, there is a need for the powerful in the region to exchange in trade. The Free Market was created for this purpose. A large, raucous, and free flowing place where just about anything can be bought and sold: fresh water, weapons, food and tools, and the occasional enslaved prisoner. Though slavery remains distasteful to most.In the original agreement, security for the market was split between Crawley's Waltzers and the Sullivan's Marines. No one trusts the Waltzers, but there was no way to get them to agree to a market so close to the Crawley's powerbase without them. There is a great deal of friction between the two peacekeeping forces, and they are the cause of conflict nearly as often as they quell it.
